Story

**EDIT**

We are now through the worst of the cold weather, and are hugely grateful to everyone who has donated over the last few months to help us keep warm - it truly helped so much! We'd now like to switch our fundraiser to focusing on our new Garden of Ryebank Fields - a space built and designed by members of the community to provide produce for people to enjoy, to educate each other about growing food, and to offer activities for people to get involved with the camp. We are looking to buy more topsoil and compost to plant more vegetables, and for tools to help with the gardening sessions.

An additional thing we'd like to raise money for is to help rebuild the Dryebank, a fantastic exhibition space built for the 2021 Chorlton Arts Festival, where we held various amazing events to give back to the community. We are hoping to buy more building equipment like screws, tarps, and bits of wood that we can't find in skips.

***

Ryebank Fields Community Camp was set up on the 24th April to stop the destruction of the beautiful rewilded green space in the middle of Chorlton. Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU), who own the three acre space, have been planning to sell it to developers who want to build 70 new and unaffordable homes on the land, despite huge community resistance to these plans.

The camp have been hugely supported by the local community, both financially and through food donations, and we have been able to attract lots more members of the public to join the campaign to save Ryebank Fields, in no small part because of the support of the community.

As summer comes to an end, there is a need to prepare the camp for colder and wetter months, and we are wanting to reach further than the wonderful support group who have already given so much.

We are hoping to raise money to fund better equipment to see the camp through winter (to keep it warm and light in the dark etc). Please help us get to this target so we can keep on protecting this beautiful land that belongs to all of us.
