Story

For those who don’t know me i’m a regular hockey player and during the break from the season i‘ve started running to try to improve my fitness. 🏑➡️🏃🏻I’ve signed up to run the Derby half marathon and have decided to try to raise some money for the Maternity services at the Royal Derby Hospital.
Birth Outside the Box is a forum run by midwives for maternity professionals to have open discussions on trying to find ways to improve experiences for mums, babies and their famalies! So far Birth Outside the Box has already helped to facilitate Aromatherapy training for midwives and organised Theatre challenge week, which looked at professionals experiencing theatre from a patient perspective and exploring ways of trying to improve the experiance.
The topic at the moment is Keeping Families Together. Bedside cots are currently being looked into for poorly mums in the High dependancy unit with the aim of keeping mothers and babies close together. Another idea is getting Ipads on stands so if mothers are separated from their babies due to the baby being in the NICU (neonatal intensive care unit), then they can use Facetime to see their baby if they are unable to visit.
Any money raised would be fantastic to help this worthy cause so thank you in advance!!
