Story

We want to let you know that the date has been postponed to SUNDAY 2nd APRIL due to train strike on SATURDAY 18th MARCH as we will have to come back by train. Also, considering the harsh weather conditions, Mark Evison agreed it would be best go postpone this. Please share this link to people you know so that we can raise as much as we can.

Myself, (Sabbitha Sasikaran), Jenanikca Pakeerathan and Jekasini Jayaharan will be taking part in a Mark Evison Foundation project. Our challenge would be cycling from London to Oxford on Saturday 18th March 2023 and we will be fundraising for those who are suffering from cancer and heart diseases. Half the money we will receive will be donated to Mark Evison Foundation, so that other individuals like us will have to opportunity to carry out challenging projects to raise for charity. The remaining amount will be donated to Cancer Research and British Heart Foundation.

One example of a successful story is Jadyn, who suffered a cardiac arrest when he was a child. He was at home when he collapsed, and his dad performed CPR on him to save his life. Doctors discovered Jadyn had a previously undiagnosed rare congenital heart condition called ALCAPA. The left main artery that is meant to carry oxygenated blood from the heart was actually carrying deoxygenated blood, and damaging the muscle. Jadyn had to undergo an operation lasting hours which, thankfully, proved successful. He has since gone on to make a full recovery and has also discovered a love of dancing. He’s even considering a future career in jazz dancing.

Another example of a successful story is Jo, who is a mother, felt her world had fallen apart when she was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer on August 2016. After being told that the cancer had advanced, Jo undertook an operation to remove her esophagus in February 2017. Jo started blogging her journey in order to try and help others and keep her loved ones up to date with her treatment. 'By sharing my cancer journey it has helped me to try and stay positive and focused on looking forward to a brighter future with my family.' ’I am determined to beat this cancer once and for all. My motivations comes from the love and support of my sons and my husband.' Jo has now finished her treatment and is enjoying being 'mum' again. 'I look forward to new beginnings, new dreams and aspirations and seeing my boys grow-up.'

Thus, we are fundraising money as we wish other people like Jayden and , who have heart diseases and cancer to successfully recover.
