Story

Help stop the destruction of the rural environment in Acton Beauchamp, Herefordshire.

Acton Beauchamp, Herefordshire, is a historic rural community is facing the threat of an industrial-scale solar panel development that could irrevocably alter the cherished landscape and disrupt the lives of those who call it home. This project not only jeopardises the rural beauty of the local surroundings but also encroaches upon valuable agricultural land that is now, more than ever, vital for the British economy and the food security of everyone.

putting solar panels on viable agricultural land that will then be blighted for decades to come is not the way forward

We are a dedicated group of local residents, united under the banner of SABRE, Save Acton Beauchamp's Rural Environment, standing firm against this impending destruction. Our mission is stand up for the preservation of our community's heritage and environment in the face of a threat which has little to do with the environment and a great deal to do with profit and benefit to those who live elsewhere.

Whilst we all believe in finding alternatives to carbon-emitting fuel production, this must be carried out in a sustainable way that respects both nature and agriculture, ensuring that future generations can enjoy the same beauty, tranquility and resource that we do today. The Campaign for the Protection of Rural England (CPRE) is currently seeking national support for the construction of more rooftop solar panels. The Italian government has approved a ban on the installation of new ground-mounted solar panels on productive farmland. The only reason for putting them on otherwise viable and productive farmland is to increase the profits of the developers at the expense of the rural community in which they are constructed.

However, we cannot oppose this alone. We urgently need your support to fight this application and to protect our community. We are aiming to raise £1,000 to help contribute towards the cost of consultancy fees and professional advisors whose efforts are necessary to challenge this development effectively. Your contribution will make a significant difference in our fight for Acton Beauchamp's future. Together, we can safeguard our landscape, our food resources and our way of life.
