Story
I knew right away I wanted to help, to do something, anything, to make life a little easier for him.
Background:
I was lucky enough to meet my soul sister whilst at university; two peas from the same pod we were.
Life moved on, we lived on opposite sides of the world but after 13 years I was lucky enough to see her and her family again.
Life is tough for us all but to discover her beautiful 5 year old son could have Autism and be profoundly deaf was saddening. To look at him you'd think he was a totally normal boy, and in many ways he is (MashaAllah). But he is non-verbal and needs constant care by his parents.
I want to help improve his and their quality of life by raising money for the in-depth tests needed to investigate and diagnose the status of his hearing and contribute to the operations in the near future. They are so expensive in Asia and medical expertise comes at a premium.
THE CHALLENGE:
I can't cook my way to fundraising this time so the savoury sales need to go on the back burner.
To raise this money I am setting myself a very physical challenge; to swim 70 miles (thats approx 112K) in my super swim attempt (the length of Singapore+Milton Keynes to determine my goal)
Imagine swimming from London to Milton Keynes. This swim is 112,500 meters long or 2812 laps of a large lap pool.
I ask you all to dig deep and see that this task is not only a tiring and physically challenging thing for me to do (due to my Rheumatoid Arthritis -please read Bio for info) but it's also to give a young child a head start in what will no doubt be a challenging time ahead.
I'll cycle/run when swimming isn't possible.
I would appreciate any donations you feel you can spare.
This little boy has the most soulful eyes and when he warms to you, you honestly feel you would do anything for him.
I want this money to help him get the best help he can get to better his young life and help give him the opportunities every child should be able to access no matter the disability.

5 years agoDONE AND DONE! Thank you all so much for donating what you could to my cause. The 112k was a challenge but I managed to do this slowly but surely and right on time for the Christmas holidays! A huge thank you again and I'll be sending over the donations to the family by the end of the year. May the universe give you something beautiful in return for your generosity. 😊😊😊

Raising money for charity has always been one of my ways to give back; through bake sales, savoury buffets and seasonal activities. Diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis, the physical impact to life was immense but I'm in remission and my joints are getting better. Back to Charity!
