Story

We are doing a 5k run at Heaton Park, Manchester on the 18th August 2018.
We want to raise money for Carla Lane Animals in Need and raise more awareness of dogs and animals in rescues! Carla Lane Animals In Need is an animal shelter in Liverpool for unwanted dogs, cats and small animals that come from both unwanted homes and dog pounds.
The price of microchipping, vaccinating, spaying, vet bills and feeding just one dog for a month costs the charity in total £228, which is funded entirely from donations.
Dogs are having to be turned away by rescues from the kill pounds when dogs already housed at rescues arent adopted due to space, meaning the dogs not lucky enough to get a place are put to sleep.
Most people dont realise that dogs at dog pounds are sadly euthinised after 7 days of staying there, and rescues like this save them from being needlessly killed and try to rehome them. These animals arent dangerous theyre just unlucky and have unfortunatly landed themselves with owners whos circumstances changed or that got a cute puppy wihout researching the breed. People are scared to rehome a rescue dog incase its ‘damaged’ but they are assesed in detail and trained and socialised before being rehomed to make sure this isnt the case!
Kirsty and her husband, rescued a female chihuahua who at 6 months old had already had 3 owners, she's now 6 years old and been with her family ever since. She couldn't walk on a lead, didn't know how to play, and she was very overweight. Lily has got the patience of a saint and loves her little boy of 2.5 years old and has a beautiful temperament. It goes to show, that rescue animals aren't damaged they just want love and a permanent home. People continue to breed without knowing the effects it's having on the animals and the centres.
