    Story

This is my brother Michael he's 21 & suffers with Cerebral Palsy. This is a condition which effects every muscle in his body and all four limbs. He exceeded in school, college & just finished a degree. Mikey is such a positive guy despite his hurdles in life nothing has been too high to overcome or hold him back.

Those who know him he's very outgoing. Such a sociable character, loves sport & playing wheelchair rugby. Lately he has not been himself suffering from fatigue, more body cramps and generally tired & in pain.

Last week himself & my mum attended a hospital appointment. The doctors where horrified & disgusted at how I'll fitting his current chair is, causing 80% of his issues. His feet aren't supported properly so they stick out causing tension in his thighs resulting in extra pain. Due to the weight of the chair it's causing huge pressure on his shoulders. The shoulder joints are currently working like legs as you can imagine that's not what they are designed to do. If the pressure isn't eased asap arthritis will develop.

A new lightweight, made to measure wheelchair won't only help him physically but mentally to move ahead with his future. We all want independence at this age. Mikey is close to passing his driving test & when he does he will need this chair so he can lift it into the car once he's in it. Otherwise he won't be able to drive until he gets it therefore still relying on others to transport him when he starts work.

My Mum & Dad are currently working every hour god sends to save for an adapted low level kitchen for him to become more independent at home. It's impossible for them to fund it all.

The NHS will only offer a grant equal to what his current chair is worth now so roughly £1000. The new chair varies from £3000 - £4000 depending on the measurements etc. It can take months to even get an appointment to apply for the grant. This is why I'm asking for your help anything towards this would be amazing and so greatly appreciated.
