    Story

There are hundreds of people who need a short term escape for one or two days while a place in a local hostel or homeless unit becomes free. We have dozens of volunteers who have a spare room to offer those most in need. Most of our volunteers are former victims and survivors of domestic violence themselves and know how important it is to just get out.

We have offers of help with other things too. Food, bedding, towels, toiletries, toys, other things to help set people up in new homes. We need storage and transport for these things.

Lastly, we need to be able to organise transport for people to get them from their homes to their safe houses, and then on to hostels and shelters. We use DBS checked taxi drivers and volunteer drivers.

We are attempting to set up a network of safe houses across the region for people to escape domestic violence until a hostel or homeless unit becomes available. Most volunteers who provide transport and safe places are survivors of domestic violence and are DBS checked.
