I've raised £8000 to help fund for a safe space bed for Mason

Hello everyone, i‘m funding for my 7year old little boy Mason. He is in need of a safespace bed. He had a very distressing birth, being 14 days overdue and struggling to breathe. This caused him to be starved of oxygen to his brain. Although when he was born we didn‘t think he was affected by this, as he was approaching turning 1 year old, he wasn‘t hitting the milestones that a normal baby would. After countless doctors and consultant appointnents and being told as he was a boy it was normal to be lazy, i asked for an MRI scan which was declined many times until i demanded one as i needed answers. 6 months later i had the results i dreaded, brain damage caused by birth. So 7 years later mason has cerebral palsy, epilepsy and a severe learning difficulty. Mason cannot talk nor walk or feed himself and wakes up inbetween 3am and 5am everyday. In frustration to communicate, Mason bangs his head and harms himself everyday/night. We have been fighting to get Mason a specialised bed that keeps him safe and secure during the night for 5 years so far. He‘s currently sleeping in his cotbed that he has had all his life as nothing else is safe enough, he has to be contained during the night as he can easily fall out of bed and harm himself. As we all know cotbeds are surrounded by wooden bars and although this keeps him safe in his bed, it is a perfect target for him to continuously bang his head, arms and legs on out of frustration and does not keep him safe during seizures. Specialists who are involved with Mason have told me i should put him on a mattress on the floor instead, but he would be in danger of serious injury. A Safespace bed would insure his safety and will enable him to sleep better and longer resulting in him being less frustrated during the day. Thank you for reading Mason’s story, any donation will be greatly appreciated as we have been constantly failed by the NHS.
