On the 22nd April a normal evening walk in the park turned into a painful journey ahead for the beautiful Saffy.

We don’t even know for sure how she managed to sustain such a traumatic injury, literally a few steps walking ahead of her lovely owner Sarah and crossing from the grass to the park path, the vets assumption is that Saffy has stumbled, going over on her paw to the right, bringing her full body weight down on the leg and twisting, causing a terrible break to the humerus.

I was present walking my own dog at the time and watched horrified as Sarah had to witness her gentle girl howling in pain.

Sarah bravely rushed to support Saffys body weight while a group of us fellow dog walkers tried in vain to assist in any way we possibly could.

After painfully being transported to Summerhill Vets where she was stabilised, Saffy was transported to Vale Vets in Gloucester where she underwent surgery and was left with two metal plates and 15 screws in her front right leg.

Saffy has not had the easiest of starts, she was from a racing greyhound breeder near Bury St Edmunds, who had 50 dogs in pens. Sarah had sadly lost her lurcher several months before and decided to travel to adopt Saffy as she had been rejected by several people who had come to see her. Saffy was scared of everything, skinny and crawling with fleas, at 2 years old Sarah took her beloved girl home where she gave her all the love, encouragement and nurturing she needed and deserved. They have been inseparable ever since.

Saffy has learnt that there is love and compassion in the world for her and right now I, on behalf of Saffys owner Sarah, would be so very grateful if you could show just a little more love and compassion in helping a very proud Sarah with Saffys associated veterinary costs.

Yes, Sarah has insurance cover, but due to the traumatic and severe nature of Saffys injury, her vets bills have risen dramatically. I know times are tough for all but if you would be so kind as to donate, no matter what the amount, you would be helping Sarah who has given so much to Saffy already.

Saffy has a long journey to recovery ahead and if we can help alleviate some of the financial strain for Sarah, it would greatly assist in this process.
