Story

On 11th September 2012, after 7 days in unestablished labour my daughter's heart rate became undetectable as the labour became established. Owing to my diabetic complications she was born via emergency c-section whilst I was under general anesthetic. She was severely hypoglycaemic because of my insulin I had been injecting, and needed neonatal care at Broomfield Hospital. When I regained consciousness I had half expected to hear the worst - that they may not have been able to save her. Sage wouldn't be here today without the professionalism and care we received as a family.

To.find out that the neonatal unit cannot always afford to send staff on training days at £30pp really upset me. I want the staff to be empowered with skills and confidence to help the next Sage that is born.

After a year of counselling to recover from the trauma, this feels a good time to turn a negative into a positive, which is why we are asking for donations rather than gifts for Sage's 5th birthday. We want to give back and help other families who have sick babies. No amount is too small and we hope our little miracle girl fighter will inspire you to donate. The neonatal team gave us the most beautiful gift and we will be forever indebted to them.
