Story

Our ambitious community project is worthwhile both socially and as a major conservation exercise.

Our orchard will be established and maintained by the community, for the community. It will belong to everyone who lives in our village. All will have free access: to walk amongst the trees, at any time; to rest or picnic on the benches; to learn about the native flora and fauna; to enjoy the spring blossom and to pick the ripe fruit in the autumn.

By planting and nurturing them, the project will help to conserve many of the traditional Norfolk varieties of apples, pears and cherries that are endangered. It will also provide a haven for: wild flowers, sown to flourish beneath the trees; insects; birds and small mammals.

We need your help!

Local people are preparing to plant the first of the apple trees which have recently been purchased through their generous donations. Previously unused public land has already been granted by a very supportive Parish Council but now we need further funds to provide the planned public amenities and wildlife shelters.

Please help us to make this inspiring project a reality - a proud possession of this small community!
