Saher Ahmad was a much loved, bright and kind archaeology student, who tragically took her life in 2015. This was utterly devastating for everyone who knew her at home and university. It was a total shock and affects every single minute of our lives. And things could have been different.

Her family felt there were failings in mental healthcare provision in universities. More could have been done to save her life and treat her depression. We are setting up Saher's Trust in her memory and to help others in her position - both students and their families. We are currently in the process of setting up as a charity and this appeal is to fundraise so once we are set up, we can get off to a flying start with our work, supporting others and calling for better services across the country and particularly in universities.
