Story
As we came back to school for a new academic year, our television screens were filled with images of destruction from Hurricane Irma. When we heard that our namesake, Saint Martin, had been devastated, we felt called to action. Saint Martin of Tours, who both the island of Saint Martin and our school in Solihull was named after, was particularly known for his piety and a particular act of kindness when he gave up part of his cloak to a beggar. As a school community we have decided to honour the actions of Saint Martin and fund-raise for those in the Caribbean who have had their lives ripped apart by Irma. One of the many ways involves a group of teaching staff running the Great Birmingham Half Marathon! Mr Swift, Miss Platt, Mr Allen, Mrs Linford, Mrs Jones, Miss Timson and Mr V will be taking on the challenge of the Pershore Road and the Bournville 'hill' on Sunday 15th October and would love it for you to support them.
Mrs King and year groups are organising a variety of charity events in the lead up to the end of half term within school... watch this space!
