Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have entered the Summer Spine Flare 108 miles single stage footrace on The Pennine Way that takes place on 22nd June to 24th June 2019. The main 268 mile race, the MONTANE® Spine® Race, is regarded as one of the world’s toughest endurance races and was famously won by Jasmin Paris.

Having seen firsthand Jasmin's strength and determination I felt inspired to try and push myself beyond anything I have completed previously. The race may not be 268 miles but at 108 miles this is the toughest physical challenge I have ever faced. I thought by raising funds for a great cause will help me distract me from terrifying prospect of running 24+ hours and give me added boost of motivation!
I thought this would be a great opportunity to raise money for The Women’s Support Project, which is a feminist voluntary organisation, registered as a Scottish Charity. The Project works in Glasgow and across Scotland to raise awareness of the extent, causes and effect of male violence against women, and for improved services for those affected by violence. Particular emphasis is placed on trying to raise the awareness of the commercial exploitation of women.
I recently found out about the chilling dark side of human trafficking and modern slavery across Scotland and in local communities in Glasgow. According to Glasgow Live news web page "There were at least 53 potential victims of modern slavery in Scotland during the first three months of 2018 - and eight of them were children."
All money raised will go directly to help fund work with women survivors of violence. This work is making a difference in our local community. Any donation, no matter how small, is gratefully received.
You can increase your donation by 25% if we claim Gift Aid. if you are a UK taxpayer and are happy for us to claim Gift Aid please email your name and address to enquiries@womenssupportproject.org.uk
Lastly, I cannot guarantee I can complete this race but I can assure you I will try my hardest to finish the race to the best of my ability and it will be complete sufferfest! Thank you for taking the time to read this.
