    Story

This is a picture of my lovely horse Lottie, who was badly injured by another horse. She was kicked just below her hock, and the injury was so deep there was a danger of her having to be put to sleep due to a broken bone and damage to her ligaments. The vet was called and she had to have the leg stitched and dressed. This was so painful for her that she had to be sedated, and each time the dressing had to be changed we had to follow the same process - sedation before we could go anywhere near it. There followed 4 weeks of treatment, including x-rays, painkillers, antibiotics and box rest. Thankfully she has made near enough a full recovery. I'd like to tell you a bit about Lottie - I rescued her from a farm, believing her to be 14 years old. She was advertised for sale but no one wanted her. I took her, and insured her accordingly. Never did I think that the person I took her from would have misled me - however, out of curiosity I traced her through her freeze mark only to be told that she is in fact at least 23 years old. For anyone who knows anything about horses they have to have a passport, but this also turned out to be false. These details came to light as I had to produce the passport to the vet so he could update her record with the treatments he was giving her. Needless to say, her insurance is now null and void so I cannot claim any of the cost back and this leaves me in a lot of difficulty due to my personal circumstances. My appeal is to any horse or indeed any animal lovers out there who might be able to assist with a donation, however small, so that I can ensure that the fantastic team of vets who were so quick to respond to the initial call out, and who took such good care of Lottie, are paid in full for their care and dedication to getting her right. Thank you.
