Story
Our community group, CHAT (Communities Helping All Together) and Reverend Gemma Turner have been working with the Co-Op supermarket in Hessle to make sure that food waste is reduced and local people have enough to eat. As part of our ongoing work, we are doing a Christmas Eve dinner for those who will be lonely, skint or feeling vulnerable at this time of year.
As well as food and (non-alcoholic) drinks, we want to give out cards and crackers and make people feel loved and valued in our community. Your donations will help to fund this. We currently know of more than 80 families who use food bank and there are several individuals known to Rev. Turner and myself who are struggling.
The use of the Church Hall has been given for free and nobody or business will personally profit from this venture. Left over funds - if there are any - will be used to help pay for a day trip to the seaside in the summer for families who would not be able to afford it otherwise.
