Story

On Friday night, just before 8pm, our very good friends and all-round wonderful people were knocked over while crossing the road.

This is not to assign blame to anyone as investigations are still under way.

Sadly, the male, Peter Bartle, died at the scene. He would have been 64 on 27 March and due to retire next year. He spent most of his life serving his country in one capacity or another. Those that knew him know what his roles have involved.

His wife, Sarah, is in a critical condition, but we're not yet in a position to give details.

It is going to be an immensely long and painful physical recovery, but nothing compared to the emotional and psychological one.

Their son, Josh and daughter, Beth have given us permission to set this up, as Pete was my husband's best mate, colleague, drinking buddy, and support.

The world is a bit smaller because of losing him, but the skies are a bit brighter, as his is a star that will never stop shining.

Please donate what you can to support the family. It will help with ongoing care, funeral costs, and a lasting memorial, fitting for this true Gentleman.
