I've raised £300 to provide MS patients with some home comforts, equipment to administer treatment and some entertainment whilst receiving care at the hospital.

Story

In 2013, at the age of 43 our Sister/Sister-in-law, Sally was diagnosed with relapsing/remitting Multiple Sclerosis - as you can image, this was devasting news for her and everyone involved.

Since her diagnosis, Sally's personal and social life have changed dramatically but she has fantastic family and friends around her which helps keep her smiling.

As part of her ongoing treatment, Sally has monthly infusions of the drug Tysabri at the MS unit of the Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport. Although the infusions can take several hours to administer, the staff try their hardest to make Sally and other patients feel as comfortable and relaxed as possible by bringing in treats, magazines and books etc.

The staff at the Unit are doing an amazing job, however, they do need additional items that their NHS budget does not cover such as a heated arm blankets (to help access the vein to administer the treatment) a small TV and a tea/coffee machine. Providing these small additions to the Unit will hopefully help to make the visit to the Unit a more pleasant experience and this is why we, as a family, have decided to fundraise by taking part in "Tough Mudder 2018" on 18th August!

This will not be a pleasant experience for us and it will put us out of our comfort zone, but it will be nowhere near what people with MS have to deal with on a daily basis. We would really appreciate any sponsorship that you can give, no matter how small.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and hopefully, together, we can make a difference to the Unit and its patients, now and in the future - Tina, Scott & Becky.
