Story
We are trying to raise £5000 to help save Saltersgate School's respite caravan situated at Berwick Holiday Park!
We are raffling off a weekend break at Berwick Haven in a lovely 2 berth (sleeps 6) caravan, with all entertainment passes included!
The weekend is Friday 1st June until Monday 4th June 2018! This date is non-changeable so please make sure you can go then!
£5 to enter, enter as many times as you like! Please leave your full name and number when donating!
Please read below for a bit more information as to why the caravan is so important to our families!
The school's caravan program has been run by Friends of Saltersgate for years and they have worked so hard to keep it going to benefit the children and families of Saltersgate School. Due to a funding problem we are needing a wee hand to ensure the future of this amazing resource!
The caravan provides much needed breaks away for families who face all sorts of challenges on a daily basis. Some families would not get a break at all, ever if this wasn't here! Some families cannot feasibly afford a break, for some the thought of going away a holiday is a scary, challenging prospect - imagine paying £100's for a holiday only to arrive and find your child cannot cope and you have to leave! That is a harsh reality of life with ASN children.
So please dig deep and help support us! A full weekend away for £5 is a bargain!

Saltersgate is a Midlothian school which supports children and young people with additional support needs. The school provides education for primary and secondary aged children from across Midlothian who have additional learning needs. The children and young people attending Saltersgate are taught in small groups with additional support from Learning Assistants and Childcare Development Workers. There is regular support from Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists as well as medical staff.
Friends of Saltersgate School (SC040788) is a charity that supports our fantastic school. The aim of Friends of Saltersgate School (FOSS) is to promote the welfare and support the needs of children and young people who attend Saltersgate School, the Additional Support Needs School serving Midlothian and also to provide support to their families.
FOSS volunteers work to provide both equipment and experiences that benefit the children and young people’s development, with the active support of School professionals.
ACTIVITIES
The organisation carries out a range of activities with the Saltersgate School community of staff, parents and families, such as:
Raising money for the provision of school equipment;
Raising money for projects which benefit the children, young people and their families;
Managing and co-ordinating a programme of beneficial experiences for children, young people and their families, including an annual programme of family Day’s Out and of week-long caravan holidays.
WHY DO WE NEED YOUR HELP?
Saltersgate offers enhanced educational provision, but respite breaks for children with disabilities are non existent. By supporting our charity you will be helping some of the most vulnerable children in our society to enjoy everyday things they may not experience otherwise, and to build their self-esteem and confidence.
WHAT THE FAMILIES WE HELP SAY
"Great to get away as a family, the kids enjoyed it a lot".
"Holiday thoroughly enjoyed by all the family".
"Five years since we had a family holiday, it has been brilliant".
