Saltley Academy and Saltley Leisure Centre are teaming up to provide students and the whole community with a facility of which to be proud.

We are seeking to raise £50,000 to fund an 'outdoor gym' to be placed between the Leisure Centre and the astroturf on the Academy site.

This facility would be available to students in their lessons and lunchtimes in the school day and open to the community via the Leisure Centre in the evenings and the weekends.

The more money we raise, the more we can seek to bid for from sources such as the Lottery, who could match that funding. So, if we reach our target, we could potentially install a facility for our school and our community worth £100,000. The amount raised will dictate both the quality and the quantity of equipment we can install.

An 'outdoor gym' would be made up of a range of exercise equipment, especially designed to meet different people's needs and interests. It would give both our young people and the wider community the opportunity to undertake regular exercise in a high class facility. It is planned that the facility would generate electricity which would be stored and then used to light the gym on dark evenings.

The importance of exercise on both physical and mental well-being is well-known. Please help us to provide this opportunity for the Academy and the whole community.
