Weʼre raising £850 to the Syriac Orthodox Church, East Acton, London, W3 7JL.
Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
Having both grew up in Iraq and spent much of our early lives there as children before moving to the UK. We can still very much remember the poverty and the sadness that has been affecting peoples' lives after the war.
Iraq is a developing country where public services infrastructure standards & social welfare are still way behind countries in Europe. We feel that raising money for disabled people in Iraq would go towards making some improvement in their quality of life and raising awareness of multiple issues that affects people with disabilities. As well as functional disability, many children and adults are affected by poor housing conditions, lack of education and malnutrition which affects their mental development and mental health.
To raise this awareness; we are taking part in the 2018 North West Mud Run also known as Tough Mudder on the 8th September in Manchester, where we would use this date as a mile stone for our collection target which we are trying to achieve the sum of £850.
To ensure that the fundraising monies are delivered to the appropriate recipients and ensure that it will go towards helping the disabled people in Iraq, we have decided to raise the funds to the Syriac Orthodox Church here in London that still has strong relationships with aid work in Iraq that would ensure the right people will benefit from the fundraising.
No amount is too small and any donations would be very much appreciated.
