Story
In just a few short weeks time, between the 18th and 30th of October, myself and a group of about fifteen other students from St Dunstan's College are going to be traveling to a remote Tanzanian community to help them build a new school building, which they desperately need. Although it may not seem obvious the most helpful thing we can give to these children are toilet facilities and the knowledge about personnel hygiene. Of Tanzania's 52million population, 44 million do not have access to proper toilets or any form of sanitation. As a result over 4000 children each year die of diarrheal disease which could be prevented. This is why are project is so important because we can help not only to give these children access to proper toilets and clean water but also we can teach them the importance of sanitation and how it can improve not only their health but their families as well.
We are working in partnership with the Livingstone Tanzania Trust and our school has already sent several previous groups to different areas in Tanzania to help communities tackle the issues they are facing. We have all already devoted a great deal of time and effort into raising enough money to finance this project. However, we are still short of our target of £12,000, with your help we will be able to reach that figure and give the children of the community the proper facilities they need.
