Story

I'm going to be running the Coast Path from Plymouth to Poole which is 216.4 miles over ten days at an average of 21.6 miles a day. I will climb (slowly) 35,518ft (those wimps that climb Everest only do 29,029ft)

I will be hoping to raise money through some crowdfunding for a 'Winter Ball' event for people with learning disabilities organised by Erya.

Erya CIC is a not for profit community interest company run by, and for people with learning disabilities. Erya is trying to tackle the problem of loneliness and social isolation for people with a learning disability and autism.

Research suggests that people with a learning disability are extremely vulnerable to loneliness, with up to fifty percent of people with a learning disability experiencing chronic loneliness.

Erya runs social events to give people the opportunity to meet friends, form relationships or just spend time together. Erya is helping people to make those natural support networks we all rely on to guide us through life.

Through donations made through my run Erya would like to hold a Winter Ball event which everyone who donates would be invited to attend to share the joy and make some new friends, get dressed up and have a brilliant night.

With the numerous and extensive cuts to funding that are having a huge effect of people with disabilities and those who support them this event would be a chance for people, many of who would never had to opportunity to do something like this before put on there best threads, get out and meet people and hopefully build some relationships that will last them a lifetime.

Life is all about having the ability to get a bit social when you want to and meeting new people and making friends. If we can raise a bit of money to help people to do this then I will happily lose my toenails and dignity many times over.
