Story

Meet Murad Sadpara, a mountaineering legend from the remote village of Sadpara in Baltistan. Born and raised amidst the majestic mountains, Murad's life was intertwined with the rugged landscape from a young age. With no access to education, he spent his childhood tending to livestock and helping his parents with agricultural work.
As he grew older, Murad's determination to provide a better future for his children and family led him to turn to mountaineering. He hoped to create a brighter tomorrow for his loved ones, and the mountains became his pathway to a more secure and prosperous life.
In June 2019, Murad embarked on a journey that would change his life forever - becoming a high-altitude porter. With unwavering dedication, he pushed through the grueling job, driven by his family's needs. Murad was no ordinary HAP; he was a super-strong man who carried double the weight that others did, earning him a reputation as a force to be reckoned with.
And then, something remarkable happened. On his first attempt as a HAP, he reached the summit of Gashabrum-I alongside his clients. This triumph ignited a fire within him, propelling him to conquer even greater heights.
Within a few years, Murad stood atop four eight-thousander mountains, his name etched in the record books of mountaineering history. His remarkable journey is a testament to the power of resilience, hard work, and an unrelenting passion for the mountains that nurtured him. Murad's legacy will inspire generations to come, a shining example of how hope and determination can shape a brighter future.
Murad Sadpara was more than just a climber; he was a hero who risked his life to save others in the most dangerous conditions. Last year, he achieved what many thought was impossible by retrieving the body of an Afghan climber from 7,300 meters on K2. This year, Murad performed another extraordinary feat by bringing down the body of Hassan Shigri, who tragically died at 8,200 meters on K2's Bottleneck. His courageous act captured the world's attention.
Tragically, while descending from Broad Peak at 5,300 meters, Murad was struck by a falling rock. Despite wearing a helmet and taking all safety precautions, he did not survive the impact.
Murad was the sole breadwinner for his family, which includes his four children, his wife, his mother and two differently-abled brothers. He was known not only for his bravery but also for his love of singing and poetry. Murad was the life and soul of every gathering, always willing to help anyone in need, no matter the risk to himself.
Now, it's our turn to help Murad's family. By contributing to this fund, we can ensure that his loved ones have some support in this incredibly difficult time.
In the wake of this tragedy, the mountaineering community must come together to improve the infrastructure and safety of this noble profession, ensuring that Murad’s legacy continues to inspire and protect future climbers.
Please join us in honoring Murad Sadpara’s memory by supporting his family and advocating for a safer, united mountaineering community. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference.
