What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

Story

I'm currently looking for a new, more advanced powered wheelchair than the one I'm currently using. As I'm now in my twenties I need something that's more reliable and that can offer me greater comfort and support as my physical condition, Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, progresses. As I rely on a wheelchair all the time, not just for my health but for my independence as well, it's important to have the most suitable one for my needs. The chairs I am trying out also can incorporate Bluetooth meaning I would be able to use the wheelchair to control my devices. Something that will be massively useful when I'm eventually unable to control things like phones / tablets with my hands. It goes without saying that these types of wheelchairs aren't cheap though. The one I'm planning on getting could be between £10,000 and £20,000. So any donations people would be willing to give would be much appreciated and go a long way to help fund the wheelchair. Anyone who makes a donation to this campaign that is £50 or above will receive a complementary drawing of themselves, courtesy of my brother Jack who is a fine art graduate.

Now only a few £100 to raise to reach my target or £3,000 to go.towards my wheelchair! Very optimistic in geting this sum and more with this crowdfunding page still active for another month. Thanks for all the generous donations to this point, once again it is really much appreciated. If you're able to share so I can reach out to those I haven't already that would be great.

Now raised almost two-thirds of the £3,000 to go towards my new wheelchair. With two months to go on this crowdfunding page confident I can reach my target. I recently managed to get an article in the local paper to promote my fundraising - https://www.hampshirechronicle.co.uk/news/16891554.sams-fundraising-fight-to-buy-vital-wheelchair/.
