Story

Not any boy, but Sam Jerred
A boy who has dreams and aspirations
A boy who is positive in everything he does
A boy who inspires others to participate in disability sporting activities

A 12 year old boy who has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy which is a progressive muscle-wasting disease, for which there is no cure.
It causes wasting of every muscle in the body. The ability to walk is lost usually between 8-12 years, while some may never walk at all. By their early 20's sufferers are left mostly paralysed.
The life expectancy is currently around mid-late 20's.
It affects 1 in 3,600 males.
It is 100% FATAL

“He loves playing on his Xbox and with Lego, loves watching sport, loves hanging out with his friends and loves making memories with his family.
Those memories are so very important. Sam lives with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Each movement he makes takes a huge effort. Drinking a drink, scratching his nose, putting his socks on and moving in bed is a battle, and getting worse.
Despite this, he takes it all in his stride. He smiles all the time, adapts to each change that is happening with courage and a shrug of his weakening shoulders, and gets on with it; with very little complaint.
Many appointments in London and Cambridge take their toll on Sam-he is the bravest, most courageous and strongest person I know. He truly is my hero. “ - Emma Jerred (Mother)

My aim is to raise as much money as possible to allow Sam to fulfil some of his dreams. At the same time the family of Sam realises the importance of Sam's Hospice and have requested that half the funds raised be donated to EACH Milton - www.each.org.uk.
My fundraising activity is to swim the Dart 10K on 9th Sept(www.outdoorswimmingsociety.com/dart-10k-swim/). Quite insignificant when you consider the challenges Sam has had. Your challenge is to forgo at least one drink when you are out and donate the money you saved to Sam’s cause. Thanks in advance to all those generous people out there.
