I've raised £800 to help the Nancy Oldfield Trust and Mind. We will be raising money in aid of our 10K run and our National Three Peaks Climb.

This year we have decided to push ourselves a little further and set an even bigger goal compared to last year. My colleague Sam and I are planning to run the Norwich 10k in July and walk the National Three Peaks (in 24 hours) in August of this year. Last year we ran the Norwich 10k and raised just over £600 for Mind. This year we will be raising money for the Nancy Oldfield Trust (a local charity) and again for Mind, hoping to raise a little more than before.
Sam and I both work for a small local Café that also doubles up as an art gallery. We meet so many people every day, all who have a different story to share. Getting to know so many people from all walks of life, allows us to understand that you never know what life can throw at you. Personally, the stories that are shared over a coffee (the best in town) allows us to appreciate what we have.
We have one customer in particular that has the ability to make us see the positive in every situation. His belief is that '' we are on this earth to help each other''. He has dedicated his life to helping others and he still does today. The least we can do is to repay his efforts and show our appreciation.
Raising money for charities is something we enjoy doing, and again allows us to give back. While we are both lucky to have wonderful families surrounding us, including our extended café family, we know that there are people out there that do not get to experience the same thing. We want others to be able to have the same support that we do and the same opportunities.
We chose to raise money for the Nancy Oldfield Trust because they are a local charity providing those who are disabled or disadvantaged with an opportunity to enjoy water based activities. This in turn can improve their self-confidence and increase their environmental awareness. We both love outdoor activities; Sam loves to go fishing with her family and Chelsie (that's me) occasionally likes to go canoeing with her dad and brother. It’s these small things in life that can give someone the greatest pleasure.
The second charity we are raising money for is Mind. This charity provides help and support for those suffering with mental health problems, including friends, family and colleagues. As a charity they provide advice and support; campaign to raise awareness and educate both the public and those who are suffering with a better understanding of mental health. Most importantly they are making sure that people are not alone and that they are receiving the help needed before it’s too late. Mind is very close to ours hearts and we are grateful for the work they are doing.
Life works in mysterious ways and you never know when you might need support. So please help us raise the money so that we can help others. After all, we only have each other.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story.
