I'm raising £8000 to Rebuild and protect the Maramba Old People's Home in Livingstone, Zambia-the central point of medical, food and social care for the elderly.

Restoring Hope and Faith: Maramba Old People’s Home:
Dear friends,
It was once said that we should “Remain patient and give all our respect to our beloved seniors; they have earned their dignity through their lifetimes.” Through this principle, we not only believe that elderly people deserve the right to respect, but that elderly people also deserve the right to adequate, clean and safe living conditions, so that they can live a dignified and fruitful remainder of their life.
Based in Livingstone, Zambia, the Maramba Old People’s Home is a vital means of support for elderly people in the community. They provide medical, food and social care to the elderly, disabled and marginalised residents of the community. Among the elderly residents are those who have been widowed, marginalised and/or rendered unable to look after themselves. They strive to ensure that all residents live a happy and dignified remainder of their lives.
Sadly, current scarcities in resources such as furniture, as well as nationwide power blackouts mean that the elderly residents face serious decline in the care provided them, through prohibiting their access to essential provisions, such as hot water, electricity and therefore warm meals.
Due to drought, Zambia (and South Africa) have been facing an extreme shortage in water levels from the dam, which supplies almost all of the region’s energy. As a consequence, Zambians are experiencing immense nationwide daily power cuts, averaging 8 or more hours each day without power supply.
OUR HOPE AND MISSION:
Operating on a 100% donations policy, our goal is to raise £8000 to help renovate the Home, giving residents access to key disability-friendly facilities, so that their home is more accessible for them.
With your kind donations, we can:
-Build key energy-efficient provisions such as solar energy panels, which will allow the elderly residents to have a reliable and stable supply of energy in light of the power cuts.
-Source key medical resources such as wheelchairs, walking sticks, walking frames etc
-Source furniture such as dining tables, chairs
-Source energy efficient cooking provisions
This can all be made possible with your generosity in donating whatever you can.
Blessings and thanks to those who are able to donate today and here after.
-On behalf of Maramba Care Home Management, Samantha
