Story
Chris has motor neurone disease (MND) and was diagnosed 4 years ago. MND is a life limiting condition,, where the neurons that interact with muscles stop working, resulting in muscle wastage. For Chris, this resulted in the loss of the use of his hands and has now moved to his legs, meaning he is now reliant on a powered wheelchair at all times.
To give Chris the best quality of life, he needs an acessible shower room and bedroom installing downstairs. There were plans for the local council to complete these adaptations at the family home, but after an 18 month wait for works to start, we were told recently that the council will no longer be supporting us with these adaptations and we must fund them ourselves.
We have been granted some money in the form of the disability facilities grant, however this would not be enough to complete the works and provide a sufficient ramp into the garden so Chris can spend time with his 5 year old twins in the garden.
We have set up this justgiving page to ask if anyone out there would be able to help us raise the funds to provide Chris wirh the accessible shower room and bedroom he needs to meet his current and future needs And if enough money is raised, a ramp into the garden also.
