    Story

As a mummy, one thing I am sure of is that my babies would not have been bought safely in to this world without the magic of the midwives at Southend University Hospital.

Having four babies and one miscarriage, I cannot fault them for the way I was treated. from the early pregnancy unit to the delivery ward and post natal ward I cannot say I have any complaints. The backbone of my care was driven by my midwife and having build such a great rapport with her, it opened my eyes to the real world of midwifery and everything that comes with the job.

Midwives and doctors have to work on Christmas day, babies are born and mothers need caring for. These people sacrifice this day with the family and own babies to help women like me and I am aiming to repay mine and many other women's gratitude towards this.

I pledge to raise enough funds for the maternity wards to have a nice coffee machine, firstly to save on matchsticks but secondly for the women on the ward and their partners. Currently at Southend you have to go to another floor to retrieve a nice tasting coffee and lets be real, us women generally do not want our loved ones to leave us for even a split second whilst we feel so vulnerable.

I would also like to sprinkle a little Christmas cheer in the wards with gifts of cakes and goodies for the staff and inpatients just to brighten up their Christmas as much as I can.

I aim to deliver the goods on Christmas eve myself with a few volunteers.

Every penny counts and we could really spread some cheer around a place where lets be honest non of us would like to be on Christmas day.

If you delivered in Southend Maternity ward and have been thinking of a way to say thank you this is perfect.

Even a £1 donation will help.

Thank you for reading and I hope you have a wonderful Christmas

Not everyone gets to spend Christmas day with their loved ones and our Midwives and consultants fall under this category of people. Lets show them how loved and appreciated they are by spreading some Christmas cheer
