Hi I am trying to raise funds for the baby hip clinic / DDH unit in the sick kids hospital in Edinburgh. Without this unit I fear my baby will have had hip problems for life, and never would have been able to walk. Sophie was extended beech throughout my pregnancy which resulted in her birth via c-section to ensure risk/damage was minimal. She was born with both hips dislocated and had to be put into a pavlik harness to correct this. If it hadn't been diagnosed so early, there could have been major complications and Sophie may never have walked. It's coming up to one year since Sophie has had the harness off and with alot of hard work dedication and support from the unit she has now been given the all clear. She is walking and running like another other toddler which may never have happened without such great help from the unit and staff there. It was without doubt the hardest time of my life. Seeing my baby in so much pain and discomfort, not being able to bath my newborn baby, take her swimming or even put normal clothes on her but the results prove it is all worthwhile. The unit is a specialised unit with little funding and I would like to give something back, because what I now have is something money cannot buy and any other parents and children going through this I would hope that they get the same level of help, care and support.
