Story

Hello

This is our Jeanie May, she is 7 years old. Last October Jeanie was diagnosed with leukaemia, she underwent intense chemo which made her sick, caused her pain and she lost her beautiful long blond hair, but, she responded well to treatment and was told in May that she was in maintenance and the leukaemia was at bay. However only a few weeks later in June, Jeanie was diagnosed with secondary cancer in her right foot, this cancer is unbelievably rare with the odds being less than 0.8 cases in a million. Like fighting leukaemia wasn’t bad enough, Jeanie now has this to contend with. Doctors nationally have struggled to come up with the answer in treating the secondary cancer, chemo won’t cure it, radiotherapy will leave Jeanie with complications meaning she would not have the use of her foot. So the only option left to give Jeanie a chance at life is amputation. They need to cut away the cancer at the cost of losing her foot. So, that’s her story so far in a nutshell. They are carrying out the amputation this week (Thursday).

I am incredibly proud to call this little girl my family, this kid has accepted everything thrown at her, the fight, determination, courage she has and continues to show, blows my mind. She is the most inspiring, beautiful person I have ever had the privilege of knowing. Myself along with a few other family members and friends are hoping to raise some funds that will go some way to help Jeanie with any costs that are associated with her leg. As she is still growing, it is likely that she will need many prosthetic legs in the coming years and they come at a price.

I will be setting up a just giving page along with name cards, raffles etc there is also talk of a charity race night and football match which will be held in the coming months.

I am also asking local businesses if they could make a small donation, maybe a gift card or voucher anything that we can use as prizes, and anything would be gratefully received.

Thank you for reading
