Weʼve raised £11,781 to show support for Samuel Barker's family and for ripples of good to come out of this tragic event

    Story

This page is set up so that we can show our support to the Barker family. So many of us are heartbroken and would like to help in some way. Jim and Cat would love that out of this tragic event, there would be ripples of good.

These donations will all be used in memory of Samuel. For example: a memorial at Osbaston School like a Bible Garden with a new bench and climbing frame and the family's spiritual and emotional well-being. We have no idea and no expectations for how people may give - if this target is exceeded Jim and Cat would be delighted and honoured to choose to support charities close to their heart with any excess.

Here is the tribute they wrote on the night of Samuel's death:

On 13th January 2020, our beloved son Samuel Barker, aged 7, tragically died in a road traffic accident.

Samuel had a glowing personality and a slightly zany sense of humour! He was always on the move, a happy active child who loved toy cars, climbing trees, the great outdoors and especially skiing and ski lifts!

As a family, we are upheld and sustained by our faith in Jesus. While we wish we might have had longer with Samuel, we know that he is now with the LORD JESUS CHRIST in eternal peace.

Samuel himself had a real faith. Some months ago he wrote these words: “I trust in Jesus. I am so excited to go to heaven.” We all look forward to seeing him there too.

Samuel will be greatly missed by his school friends, his church family and most of all by his two adoring brothers, Mum and Dad, and very loving wider family.

Thank you all so much for your generous giving and support, the outpouring of love and gifts are far more than we ever imagined. Samuel's family are so touched. They would love to invite you to a Community Memorial Service at Monmouth Comprehensive School, on Friday 7th February at 4pm. The service will be led by Monmouth Baptist Church and include contributions from Osbaston Church in Wales School. It will be children friendly. Thank you all and please do come if you can, love Chris and Jo x x x

I read with tears of joy the article in Evangelicals Now. What an amazingly faithful mother you are and what a wonderful child of God Samuel is. May the seeds sown by his passing grow exponentially.
