Story
It is with the saddest of hearts that we share the devastating news that Sam was involved in an accident while cycling in France. He was hit by a motorbike, and despite the efforts of those around him, his injuries were too severe for him to survive.
Sam was a special brother, son and partner to Lucy, and a cherished friend to so many. His genuine kind heart, warmth and quiet strength touched everyone who knew him.
In honour of Sam’s memory, we are creating a Charity in his name. This will carry forward the kindness and support he so often gave to others without recognition.
Sam has been competing and enjoying sport all his life. From football, to cycling and so many sports in between.
Sam competed in the 2022 Commonwealth Games, representing Gibraltar, his birth country, along side his sister Holly. Sam competed in both the cycling Time Trial, as well as the Road Race.
As well as competing and training for himself, Sam was an amazing bike mechanic, coach and supporter. He would travel the world, working as a mechanic or a support person on training camps or at competitions. Sam loved what he did, especially because he got to travel and ‘work’ along side his partner Lucy who competes in Triathlon races all over the world. So many people knew they could rely on Sam, and that he would always help in whatever capacity he could. He went above and beyond for everyone.
Through the Charity we hope to support athletes who lack the resources for essential equipment or travel to competitions. We also want to help those recovering from injury who can't afford physio or rehabilitation. Our goal is to offer the kind of support Sam always gave - quietly, generously, and from the heart.
