Africa has stolen my heart!
This year I traveled to Kenya for the first time and not only did it transform my heart but the journey taught me that together we can REACH BEYOND OURSELVES! While walking on the streets of Africa I passed kids who were smelling glue in order to not feel hunger. I remember a 7-year old girl who was taking care of her three siblings because her parents were dead...I remember kids all alone in hospitals who were dying...They are left alone to suffer hunger ilnes and injustice. I believe that if kids are this badly in need, there is something wrong with us as adults. While driving to the hospital in Kisumu our team leader, Steve told us that all this nation knows is the hard touch of life.
Woman are abused every day. Just recently they were forbidden to look at white people. All they know is pain. In order to do something good, Steve proposed to wash women's feet at the hospital and pray for their children. I thought I would never be able to do it. It seemed so humiliating and embarrassing. In a few seconds something that felt so unworthy and not useful, shifted my heart completely. Before they couldn't even imagine that "Muzungu” or “the white man" could come do anything for them, not to mention that they are loved by God as well as other people. This coming November I am going to a missionary trip to Kenya again. I am planning to visit villages, hospitals, and orphanages where they are facing HUGE needs. For every place that I visit I want to bring: water, food, clothes, women's products, and other necessary items. I have changed my job and am working hard to make this trip possible! I would like to invite you to take YOUR part in it! It would mean a lot if you could offer your support to help me make this happen. I am paying for the trip myself, and I am raising funds to be able to afford to make a real change in the lives of people. I plan to write regular reports and updates on where the funds have been allocated.
