Donations would be used for our Bristol City of Sanctuary Transport Fund, a community initiative to provide bus tickets for destitute sanctuary seekers in Bristol. Destitute asylum seekers have lost all their housing and financial support. They are not allowed to work and cannot return to the country they fled.
Bristol is a big city, and asylum seekers may not be staying centrally or close to essential services. The provision of bus tickets is an invaluable way of helping those seeking sanctuary in Bristol to reach these services, such as drop-in sessions, where they can access free advice and support and receive hot meals.
The fund has been set up in conjunction with First Bus Bristol, who have generously offered £200 match funding. The money raised will provide three monthly bus tickets, along with a number of one off tickets as well. This fund is a real way to make a difference to the day-to-day lives of those seeking sanctuary within our city

Destitute asylum seekers in Bristol often do not have enough money to use essential public transport. If you can, join us to support them, particularly as First Bus is providing some matched funding.
