Stuart is running The London Marathon to help raise money for The Reach!
Stuart McCann has kindly decided to raise money for The Reach by running The London Marathon! We could not be more pleased that he chose us!
Stuart said, "Over the years, I've seen family and friends suffer with their mental health to varying degrees. Although help is out there, it can often be months away from when it's needed. The Reach Mens Centre is a local organisation offering accessible help to anyone in need, and is a very worthy cause for any funds raised."
Good luck with your training Stuart!
About The Reach
The Reach was launched as a community interest company in 2017 with the aim to fill the gap in mental health support for men in Sefton. Through conversations with men in the area we found that there was a demand for an informal drop-in service where men could socialise with others and receive signposting to relevant services.
Over the past 5 years we have provided a range of services aimed at reducing isolation and improving the mental health of men in the area. We currently run support groups where men can meet to share experiences, play pool and chat. They can also receive support from our guest speakers, obtain signposting to other local services, or gain skills through various courses. We also provide support through our one-to-one counselling service.
Our service was steadily growing, but the global pandemic saw a substantial increase in demand for both counselling and drop-in support leading to us expand. We made the decision to move from our local neighbourhood centre to our own premises to offer more time and flexibility to those needing help. We are now based in Bootle Strand Shopping Centre.
