Story
The Covid-19 pandemic will disproportionately impact the most vulnerable in society. For those suffering from period poverty, it is insidious, often invisible and engenders shame and indignity in those who suffer it. 1 in 5 menstruators in Scotland suffer from period poverty in ordinary times, however, the Covid-19 pandemic is an extraordinary event. With official government guidance recommending social distancing and self-isolation for those with symptoms there is a great chance that the issue of period poverty could be exacerbated.
Sanitree is seeking to raise £600 to donate 100 of our reusable pads to foodbanks across Edinburgh. Any donation goes a long way.
In these times it is important to show empathy, consideration, and unity with all members across our community. The next few months are uncertain times for all of us especially when supermarkets shelves are devoid of basic everyday essentials. We can take action now to ensure period products are one less thing to worry about during this time of great uncertainty.
This is about solidarity, not charity, we want to ensure that people are able to have a dignified period and with your help this is possible.
UPDATE:
If we raise more than £600 we will of course donate more than 100 pads!
