Story
Last year Aunty Gill gave us the chance to participate in our first Perth Santa Run by coming to Stirling to keep an eye on grandpa, who was getting frailer by the day in his battle against prostate cancer.
With grandpa being looked after the entire family attended the Perth Santa Run as Ruairidh and I were accompanied by the “Reido Support team”.
Sadly, on January 2nd this year Grandpa Campbell lost his battle with cancer and just nine months later we also tragically lost Gill as she too lost her battle with cancer.
Gill was diagnosed with bladder cancer in June 2015, just two weeks after she gave birth to Conor. After surgery and intensive treatment there was great hope Gill had beat this terrible illness. However, the results of a routine scan in June this year revealed Gill’s cancer had returned and sadly we lost Gill on September 26th.
Throughout her illness, Gill was treated in Station 15, University Hospital Ayr, and we as a family are hugely thankful for the care and support provided to us all by the dedicated team of nurses, doctors and auxiliary staff.
In the final days and hours of Gill's life, the Station 15 team treated Gill with the utmost care, professionalism, dignity and respect – and for that we will be forever grateful.
In memory of Gill we are all taking part in the Santa Run this year; Gill's husband Paul and son Conor, family friend, Jack and the full complement of “StirlingReidos." We are raising funds for Station 15, a very worthy cause and one very close to our hearts.
Thank you.

7 years agoIt is almost a month since team Gill participated in the Perth Santa Run and we are so grateful to everyone who has supported us with a donation and helped us to raise the amazing total of £1650. Thank-you so much. The Just Giving page is still open for another couple of days. Then we will be making arrangements to get the funds to Station 15 in Ayr University Hospital.

I'm about to get to bed as are the other team Gill members apart from the Rooster...he's off with his Scout pack for a night hike! They are walking 15 miles tonight and we get him back at 9am tomorrow morning just before we head off to Perth...wish us luck with the Rooster tomorrow...kid gloves may be required to encourage him round the course!

8 years agoTen days to race day...went for a wee run myself last night. Pulled my achilles on Saturday that's taken a few days to settle down so wanted to test it out...slowed the pace and it held out OK. So that's good...as well as the Santa Run on the 10th I'm hoping to complete the Marcothon again this year...I need to run every day in December for 25 minutes or 3 miles, whatever comes first, so could really do without my achilles playing up...keeping my fingers crossed. Hoping to get a couple of boys out running tomorrow.
