Sandy the ginger cat came into our lives in the summer when we moved into our new house. She was thin, full of fleas, had a disfigured tail and was desperate for some love. After a few days of her watching us eat our dinner through the patio doors every night, we couldn't help but start feeding her. She repaid us with cuddles and gratitude. We eventually found out who she belonged to - a neighbour who didn't want her anymore, hated cats, wouldn't let her go inside his house, but wouldn't let us re-home her. Our only choice was to continue to feed her, treat her fleas and keep an eye out for her. We have our own cat, who sadly hates other cats and won't tolerate Sandy in the same room as him. This means we can't keep her ourselves, as it really upsets our cat for days afterwards.
Sadly, Sandy came crawling into our back garden last night in a terrible condition. She could barely lift her head, she wouldn't eat anything, and her eyes were cloudy and rolling. Of course, we don't have pet insurance for her as we don't technically own her, but we had to do something. We took her to the emergency vets, who gave her lifesaving antibiotic injections, and did blood tests. The results will come back today. If she needs an antibiotic drip, which is looking likely, the vet will charge £500, plus the £245 from last night's trip to the vets. We don't have the money for this, but we can't just let her die. Please support us in giving Sandy another chance at life. She is the most loving, affectionate and good-natured cat you could ever meet. Thank you for any help you can give.
