    Story

Stoneleigh and Auriol Residents’ Association (SARA) have been at the heart of our community for over 80 years. We have a proud history of shaping our community and making it a better place to live and work and to create a safe and secure environment for those who reside here.

There are currently plans to build a seven-storey block of flats containing 23 apartments, in the middle of three and four-bedroom 1930 two storey houses, in Station Approach, Stoneleigh. Epsom and Ewell Borough Council have actively encouraged the developer to increase the size of their original build as part of a new strategy adopted by the council to ‘talk up’ planning applications to meet Government targets.

If we don’t contest this development and the councils new planning strategy then it will set a dangerous precedent for more inappropriate expansions of this type to be built across the whole of Epsom and Ewell and this will change the face of our borough forever. SARA is not prepared to let that happen.

By working together we can make a real difference in stopping these inappropriate developments.

Thank you to everyone who has donated so far. This has already allowed SARA to appoint an independent planning consultant who has considerable experience in handling planning appeals. He has recommended that SARA commissions its own studies and surveys in a number of areas. We aim to build a substantive case against this planning application based on expert opinion from those who practice in this specialist field.. However, this experience and advice does not come cheap. So please keep donating..Working together we can make a real difference.

If this overbearing monstrosity gets built, it sets a very bad precedent for Stoneleigh and its already overstretched amenities. Good luck with the campaign.

Well done, Richard, the national and local politicians are shoveling money into the house builder's directors pockets - building higher and higher without a care for the environment or local residents

Thank you for all of your hard work and perseverance Richard. We are FOR redevelopment but have huge concerns over the proposed height and lack of parking.

Thank you for representing local residents and your work to try and prevent this monstrosity! If it was more in keeping with its design and not as high then I would be as opposed.
