Story
I'm running the Swindon Half Marathon on 3rd September to raise money for the Swindon Trauma Group.
Swindon Trauma Group is a voluntary group based in Swindon for the survivors of trauma. It was established to raise public awareness of the invisible injuries of trauma as well as provide support and information to survivors and sufferers of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Gulf War Syndrome and other post-traumatic disorders, including addiction. The Group works with other mental health agencies in Swindon, and while it has a particular focus on the veteran community, it is open to all.
The Group is raising money to fund a 2-day Mental Health First Aid course in 2018 for trauma survivors, following the success of the course last year
This group is a local not-for-profit organisation that will spend every penny raised on the delivery of support services to local survivors of trauma. Their work has contributed to, and raised awareness of, the latest research into the effects of trauma, and I am pleased to offer them my complete support for their important work.

7 years agoWell, in the end I raised £255 on this site plus £80 from cash donations: a grand total of £335 for the Swindon Trauma Group! Massive thanks to all the wonderful people who sponsored my half marathon run. Every penny of the money will go towards improving mental health for those in Swindon who have suffered trauma. As a reminder the Swindon Trauma Group website is here: https://www.swindontraumagroup.org.uk and their annual conference is next Friday 6th October, where my husband Olly will be speaking.

7 years agoThank you wonderful people for supporting me on the run today (completed in 1:51:46- a bit pleased with that!!), but more importantly the fantastic work of Swindon Trauma Group! Hoping they will be able to run 2 Mental Health First Aid courses in 2018! Still collecting donations until the end of September so feel free to share...! :-)

7 years agoJust completed my last fast run before the race on Sunday and I'm feeling pretty good. Hopefully on for a 2 hour time... Amazing generosity from everyone who has sponsored me- thank you so much! There are cash donations on top of this so we will certainly be over the £250 mark. Thank you so much!
