I'm raising £6,000 for the knee surgery I require in May 2025. Here’s my story:

Basically I play football for Herne Bay FC Women at step 6 of the Women’s football league structure and whilst playing as a striker in April 2024 I jumped for a header (which set up a goal I might add!) and as I landed was knocked over, studs caught in the 3G pitch and my knee popped. Goodbye ACL, ruptured. Damaged meniscus and MCL and LCL. This not only caused so much pain but it also meant I could not travel to Croatia the next day to play for FIMBA GREAT BRITAIN LADIES 35+ Basketball Team in the Masters Basketball World Cup! As you can imagine I was heartbroken!

Fast forward to August and after already self funding several MRI’s and private consultant appointments managed to get the surgery done on the NHS to reconstruct my ACL. My surgeon decided that as I had a meniscus tear he would shave this.. but said it would remain vulnerable.

Basically my rehab for the ACL has stopped. Despite a fantastic private specialist sports therapist helping me along quite some way we are now stuck…. So she made me order another MRI. Results time… ANOTHER TEAR IN THE MENISCUS.. and grade 4 (worst case) arthritis of the patella (kneecap). So now not only am I stuck in my ACL Rehab I’m also needing further surgical intervention.

NHS has told me today it’s a 7 month wait to even see the surgeon face to face - let alone the further year wait for the actual surgery.. then the recovery AGAIN.

With your support no matter how little or big the donation it gives me the opportunity to have the operation I’d need to fully fix the knee and move everything including life, work and playing with my kids at the park again, forward. Plus it’ll enable me to get back to playing on that football pitch with my team, get me back on the international Basketball stage with my FIMBA GB team, play for my local basketball team whom I miss alot.. and in turn really help my mental health.
