My name is sarah louise cowley , i was born with a rare variation of mitochondrial disease ,even though i was born disabled i worked all my life from the age of fifteen to the age of thirty eight as a care assistant looking after those who were elderly and with dementia .Whilst i was working in a secure dementia unit i was asked to do something by a nurse which i didnt want to do as i knew it was not safe i was told that i was just a care assistant and if i wanted to keep my job then i will do it , so me and three other agency carers went off and everything was going well until the lady with dementia struck out at me kicking me in the stomach and i fell back onto the corner wardrobe .I did not realise the damage that was done and the nurse when told of the incident did not even put it in the accident book .A while later i collapsed and was taken to my local hospital kettering general where i was operated on the next day and went home two days later and was told i would have a post op check up 6 weeks later at 10 weeks i still had not had an appointment letter and the same againat 14 weeks for reasons i cannot put on here i finally got to see my consultant at 17 weeks after my 1st operation he told me to go to physio i had been 3 times and they would not touch me as they realised something was still wrong with my back and had written to the consultant telling him that i needed another mri after a long battle i finally got one but the damage was done i had bits of debris floating around and had to have further surgery to remove it since then i have been in A&E over 70 times have been referred from hospital to hospital saying im a good candidate for a dorsal column stimulator then a spinal column stimulator but denied each time i have had the injection in my spine to try and ease the pain all it did was paralyse 3 of my toes so the disc that was operated on L5-S1 is now degenerating , its protruding to the right compressing the S1 nerve root i also have sacroilliac joint inflammatory dysfunction , 3 paralysed toes and sciatica in both legs down to my toes , i can only sit up for 10 minutes without it causing even more pain ìt causes me to go numb through my pelvis and groin and down both legs , i can walk a little which also causes more pain and can go out on short journeys in my wheelchair ,i cannot feel the bottom of my feet the photograph on here of me wearing make up was taken of me standing up by a friend i had make up on as i am self concious of the way ì look without it My gp has now said i can be referred to a private clinic but it has to be self funded , i need either a spinal fushion or a spinal column stimulator to stop the pain from reaching the receptors in my brain knowing im in pain , i have spent the last 5 years on liquid morphine , morphine tablets , pregablin as well as other drugs i cannot work i wish i could i cant go out or on holiday or have a relationship im in excruciating pain 24/7 the medication does not touch the pain i have no way of self funding to see someone who could help me and if the accident did not happen i would still be a care assistant now after all i had done the job for 22 years im asking if people would kindly donate and help me get the help i need and support me 5 years is a long time to be in so much pain and have no life please share this with anyoe you know for me i need as much help as i can get thank you so much in advance if you want to get in touch with me my email address is sarahcowley13@yahoo.co.uk and my telephone number is 07581772299 please remember i cannot do this myself many thanks sarah
