Weʼve raised £95 to extend the life of the Leicester Western Ward Linking Lives project, a befriending service. We are working to Reduce loneliness in our ward.

Story
There are so many lonely older people in the UK, our ward is in the top 0.4% or loneliest areas for older people. We want to reduce loneliness and isolation. One friendship at a time.
And so far, we are. We had a lady last week say because of her visit "she felt alive again" another lady wanted to laugh again and has laughed regularly with her volunteer visitor.
Our service is free for how can you put a price on friendship, but unfortunately our service has running costs, costs to recruit and train and monitor volunteers and costs to accepting, risk assessing and visiting our referrals. These costs need covering so let's start with a just giving page and let's cover the cost of reducing loneliness and isolation in Leicester's Western Ward together.

6 years agoWell me & my girls walked the 10 miles, we had fun together while working to raise funds for Leicester Western Ward Linking Lives, donations are still welcome. We will continue to do things to raise awareness of the scheme and raise funds for the scheme - together we can reduce the impact of loneliness in our community! Tuesday 6th November we'll be Celebrating Friendship. As part of Befriending Week 2018, we will be hosting a tea from 5;30pm, with Guest speakers.
