    Story

These fabulous children on the Autistic Spectrum deserve to enjoy playtime's too. I'm running a marathon to help raise funds for specialist resources.

As a mum of a son who is diagnosed with Autism and everything else that comes alongside it, I hear you tell me that a brand new specialist school for children on the Autism Spectrum, should not need additional help to purchase resources... If only that was true I say to you. This much needed provision is finally up and running with children already attending, yes it is a fabulous building with amazing staff, but that's where the limited money has been invested. The children really do deserve to have play resources, many of these children have been in an education system that has misunderstood them, anxiety, fear, isolation and many months, even years of extremely sad stories have been these children's "norm" where school has been concerned. How to build a friendship is not a natural instinct for many of our children and life skills need to be taught in order to encourage independence and confidence. In order to do this the children at the Wherry School, need specialist play resources aimed at children on the spectrum. These resources through play will encourage social skills, but also through play with the right equipment the sensory needs of these children can be met and they don't have to be overwhelmed any more, it can also provide a smile that these children have sorely missed from their years in education. Learning is such a big word, and I really want to give these children the chance to feel happy taking the small steps back on the path to learning again. So i have decided to run a Marathon, eeek! On October 28th along the North Norfolk Coast (got to love a challenge!) I have a foot injury from an incident last year which makes running painful, but I do it because every stride reminds me of what my son has been through and now what lays ahead. So I ask you to help me raise £500 to provide specialist play resources for The Wherry School. My son and daughter have been helping me train by cycling alongside me and they are only 9 and 7! So give what you can be it small or large. This will make a difference to so many children. Please share this link as well, lets take this far and wide. THANK YOU!

Well normally when training for a Marathon you expect to pick up an injury or two, mainly to your feet or knees. Of course i have to be different.. so attached is a picture of mine. 2 runs missed because of it - so no choice but to head out tomorrow no matter what. So i will be that runner pointing to the sky with my sausage finger and popping painkillers instead of energy gels. Thank you guys for continuing to support me please do keep sharing my link. Wouldn't it be great to get to £1000 :-)

Not a post for the squeamish, (sorry!) i was up early this morning and running a short 5 miles before getting everyone off to school, it was rainy, but i prefer that! Felt tired but knew i needed to get round, foot was niggling too. However when I got home i had run my best time yet, so was happy as it hadn't felt like it! Was then greeted by these little beauties, naughty blisters! looking forward to running on them tomorrow morning, a sign of things to come I feel.... THANK YOU TO THOSE THAT HAVE DONATED SINCE MY LAST POST! THANK YOU XXXX
