Story
I am running 10K on May 6th 2019, in the Whitstable 10K event. I have never done this before, and I am doing it for my son Alex, who died in August 2017. He was a runner, running was his whole being. He had always wanted to run in a 10K race, but wasn't able to until he was 16 - and he never made it.
His other love was sailing, which he was enjoying at the Tankerton Bay Sailing Club. The club has set up a Trust in his name, which will fund a 14/15 year old to go through the cadet training each year, ending up with them taking part in the Bart's Bash race, a global sailing event. The first cadet, Hannah, went through the programme last year, and has evolved into a confident and enthusiastic young sailor.
The Whitstable 10K race goes right past the Tankerton Bay clubhouse. This ties Alex's two passions together beautifully. I want to raise money for this brilliant initiative at the sailing club, so that we can have young people discover the joys of sailing for many years to come.
More than anything, I am running for Alex, and he will have to be by my side, pushing me on! Please sponsor me, and think how much he would have loved to be there too. Thank you.
