Story
Sarah is 30 years old in August. We are trying to raise funds for her to have a downstairs bedroom and bathroom. Since last September she has been in a hospital bed in the dining room, while this is great she is with the family, she has no private space and gets confused, often asking if she can go home? It would be wonderful to create her own bedroom.
Sarah has a very rare degenerative neurological condition called Kufs disease. It’s been two years since she was assessed as needing her own space and we finally have planning permission for her downstairs bedroom and bathroom extension, but we have not got the full funds to go ahead with the build. We have raised £60,000 towards it but the cost of the basic build is £100,000. If successful in raising funds, the build could start this year.

4 years agoUpdate on Sarah’s bedroom. We’ve been delayed by several weeks waiting for the bi-fold door to her bedroom. This in turn has delayed the drying out of the concrete floor and plaster, so she will be moving in early February now. The door is being fitted on Thursday, plus tiler and electrician are here this week, so after 5 weeks of standstill we are full steam ahead again!

5 years agoThe outside of the build is now almost complete. The plumbing, electrics and windows go in next week! Rendering, plaster and tiling the week after, so great progress has been made and when plaster and floor concrete is dry we can start to decorate. With luck Sarah will be in her room by Christmas! This would not have happened without your help - thank you so much.
