Story

On the 28th September I won a wonderful 'prize' at BNI Hove. Every week the presenter of the week gives a door prize and this week the lucky winner was me, thanks Colin! The prize was an entrance into the Worthing Seafront 10k on 16th October!

Now, I am not a runner in the slightest, however when I'm challenged I'm always up for giving it a go. Therefore on 16th October, I'll be digging out my running gear and jogging along Worthing Seafront in a bid to complete the challenge.

As I won this amazing prize at BNI Hove, I thought maybe we should make this a worthwhile event and raise money for a very worthy charity the Russell Martin Foundation, who are also members of our fantastic networking group.

The Russell Martin Foundation is a non-profit organisation (registered charity number 1174134) based in Brighton & Hove which uses the power of football to help change people’s lives. It was set up by professional footballer Russell Martin (originally as the Russell Martin Academy), who wanted to give something back to the city in which he was born.

The Russell Martin Academy supports young people aged 7-19 years by providing development opportunities for players of all abilities and backgrounds. Through our high-quality football provision and regular contact with our positive, professional role models we aim to offer all players the opportunity of personal progression rather than results driven.

They also run the Extra Time Project, which is a short stay, 12 week, alternative provision working on improving Social, Emotional Wellbeing whilst also giving pupils the opportunity to have respite from negative cycles they may have found themselves in, in mainstream education. Currently in Partnership with Brighton & Hove and West Sussex County Councils, running centres in Brighton and Worthing.
